About the dish: A massive community-sized pot of multilayered discovery, originally from walled villages in Hong Kong New Territories with roots in the Hakka community and Song Dynasty (960 to 1279 AD), and often used for weddings and birthdays as well as Chinese New Year. Every Poon Choi is different, with layers of symbolic good fortune and abundance in each ingredient, steeped with flavour and fabulous treasure hunting possibilities. Often featured are: roast meats, scallops, prawns, dried oysters, abalone, prawns, shiitake and radish.「福」in the red diamond means ‘good fortune’.
