A celebration of the moon in one of its largest, roundest, brightest formations of the year, and synonymous with union, togetherness (and delicious food). The Chinese phrase「 團團圓圓」is often associated with this special time of the year, meaning ‘united togetherness’ as well as ‘roundness’, of visual completeness and union.
We celebrate with mooncakes, a gorgeous golden sculpted cake made with lotus seed (the lotus is the flower of longevity) and contains the moon inside (two moons in this case!) of cured egg yolk inside. Imagine biting into the moon!
