About the dish: Mini golden treasure bags known as Thung Thong, they originate from Thai Royal Cuisine, dating back to the Ayutthaya Kingdom (1351–1767). These little pockets of joy are synonymous with wealth and are filled with minced meat or seafood, and vegetables like mushrooms, water chestnuts, carrots and bamboo shoots, each one tied elegantly with an emerald chive ribbon.
